X-Rays are comprised of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) plastic, coated with silver.  Once in a landfill, the silver becomes a toxic leachate, along with the petrochemicals from the plastic — a threat to the surrounding water table. It is illegal to dispose of X-Rays improperly.

X-Rays at a medical facility are stored in jackets complete with identifying information, making haphazard disposal of these records a potential HIPAA violation and identify theft threat.

Pickup Services are Available

Protec is based near Birmingham, Alabama. Our fleet trucks are available for pickup, onsite document destruction, and hard drive shredding within a wide radius of the north central region of the state. We also accept shipped materials from facilities nationwide.
