National Strategy for Electronics Stewardship (NSES)
The National Strategy for Electronics Stewardship (NSES) provides guidelines for the federal government, businesses, and all Americans regarding goals for the increased safety and effective management of electronic waste.
16 Federal Departments and Agencies known as the Interagency Task Force on Electronics Stewardship, as well as stakeholders in the electronics industry, have been working together to build incentives on reducing the harm of e-waste and on designing environmentally preferable electronics.
You can learn more by visiting the EPA’s article about the National Strategy for Electronic Stewardship. These recommendations outline the ways in which government offices and organizations can become more sustainable by recycling and reducing pollution.
At Protec Recycling, we appreciate the Federal government’s commitment to lead by example, and, in Alabama, we offer e-waste recycling services appropriate for all government offices, non-profit agencies, and businesses to take advantage of in recycling and reducing electronic waste.

Benefits of the NSES
Every year, the amount of electronic waste produced by American consumers and businesses increases. As technology becomes obsolete at an ever-increasing rate, the waste from old computers, smartphones, office equipment, and other technologies also increases as they are replaced by newer products.
The EPA estimates that over 438 million electronic devices, weighing in at 2.4 million tons, reach their end-of-life each year.
The NSES aims to increase domestic e-waste recycling and reduce the amount of e-waste that ends up in a landfill. Improper disposal of e-waste leads to pollution of soil and water in the areas around the landfill, which can lead to larger environmental and health issues.
